- Madeleine Sackler co-directed her first film, Mechina: A Preparation, in 2005 and from there went on to work on two seasons of the MTV comedy show Human Giant. She then edited several short documentary pieces for clients that included Trudie Styler, Moxie Pictures, and a-political. She went back to her love of feature-length documentaries when she became part of the research team for Shine a Light (dir. Martin Scorsese), the successful Rolling Stones film released in 2008. Most recently, she worked as an editor on the documentary Wise Women Speak (dir: Joni Steele Kimberlin) and the documentary on Oscar-winner Howard Shore’s new opera, The Fly (dir: Elizabeth Cotnoir), which is scheduled to appear on ARTE in 2010. The highly acclaimed feature-length documentary, The Lottery, which tackles the controversial issue of education reform, marks her directorial debut and will be released in June 2010. A graduate of Duke University, she currently resides in New York.
