I notice that most of these cities are southern cities with warm climates. I wander if this has anything to do with frequency of accidents etc.?

I was not able to be there for Alissa’s walk, but I was fortunate enough to walk it a few weeks ago and was very impressed with the clean and natural feel of the High Line even while it was cutting through buildings.  I wish we could finally accomplish something similar with the LA river.  PS anyone working on such a project, I would love to contribute.

New bicycle company

  • Posted by: Nathan Wills
  • on July 13, 2009 at 3:49 pm

Hi everyone,

I am working on starting a new collapsible bicycle co. here in LA and built in USA.  I am looking to conduct a bit more research before finalizing the design and entering prototyping.  Anyone who is interested please email me at  n8wills@gmail.com

 Thanks,

Nathan

By searching for the positives in everything throughout your day you will learn much more about yourself, beauty and good design than you will by complaining about the negatives.  Have fun!

Staturday: Bike Commuting on the Rise

  • and said:

I love the idea of people bikinng more.  I believe it creates a better sence of community.  If you get everyone out of there personal bubble and they are now able to interact and talk with other people on the road as they commute, the outcomes could be amazing.  I was recently in Norway where a large percentage of the population bikes and everyone was very polite (drivers and cyclists) on the road.  I was amazed and very gealous.

New bicycle company

  • and said:

I am reluctant to estimate the true cost to the buyer until I finish prototyping the first round.  I have an idea, but we all know how that goes. My estimate at the moment is around $1000.  It will be a fully collapsible bike that functions and looks like no other bike on the market right now.  My oppologies for not posting images, I am working on some proprietary protection at the moment but will post soon.  Keep posted.Nathan

Call In the Designers

Duane, while I agree with and am interested in what you have added it is not necessarily true that motorcycles or scooters will reduce CO2 unless we also regulate their tailpipe emissions.  Currently, most motorcycles emit the same amount of CO2 as an SUV would because they have no emissions reduction systems on the bikes.  Not a difficult thing to achieve though.

How Green are Apple’s Green Macbooks…?

  • and said:

Not to mention they don’t consider the amount of energy and materials that go into producing each computer.  Apple’s production process is much more involved with each machined aluminum casing than a competitors plastic injection molded casing etc.  Macs may have energy efficient screens but they waste a tremendous amount of energy and materials being made.
