Phiner1 is a Grants and Contract Manager living in Baltimore, MD.
I work for a non-profit in Baltimore, MD, where we serve low-income individuals and communities. I am pursuing a Masters in City and Regional Planning, with the hopes to contribute to the greening of the country's transportation sector.Yay! I don’t think the people who are anti-wind turbines have done their homework. I’m all about it! I wanna put one on my house….”bye bye utility monopolies!” (I wish). Keep reporting stuff like this…people need to know!!!
Firms and/or the government should be hiring this guy for housing architecture! This is the type of stuff we need: Maximum Efficiency…no waste!
Mark,This was an AWESOME project! I love it. It’s like looking at the things in people’s lives that no one thinks about, but that are very descriptive of how people live, think, associate with one another (or food), their cleanliness, etc. Great project! Very personal and invasive (in a good way).
Never liked math until this. Art and Science DO go together beautifully.
It’s amazing how people (especially Americans it seems) don’t think that their actions will have any adverse effects. This is a great way to show this.
Incredible! It’s so awesome that the kids did this for themselves…probably recognizing that the government, among others, probably would not provide much of anything.
I have thought about this often, so it’s great to see that someone else was too! It is SO true! There are so many vacant motels that are falling apart, taking up space and leaving a generation behind. We need to figure out a way to do something with these structures and the land that they occupy. Leaving them to rot away hurts us and our environment. Beautiful pictures!
Does Open Everything have a main site? I can’t seem to find anything…
Good way to turn the table around, but I think with both sides working adamantly in producing organic food, then the system would function so much better. The hole we have dug ourselves into, with organic food, is ridiculous. We need to cut down commercial farms, and help local farms mass produce; and if we had enough local farms, this would not be a problem. I agree with you though – it is obnoxious and people think that eating organic food is a specialty, when they don’t realize that this is the way it should be. They didn’t have cancer running rampant back in the day, nor the level of global warming and environmental destruction that we view as normal and the course of the world…you are what you eat.
There have been other “walkable” communities developed in the U.S. but I feel like they only capture/address part of the issues. We have the technology; just need to somehow convince people that it’s not a fad, but a real impact that is making our planet happier, healthier and more sustainable.
