have people heard of Ad.ly. Pretty interesting to connect individuals and advertisers like this. Kind of paid word of mouth. You could voice potential concerns from an editorial integrity stand point, but you could also see a future where individuals get to endorse the brands they believe in and get paid for it. Just met the founder, and he seems to be a really good guy so I look forward to seeing where this goes…

NYC getting creative

  • Posted by: ben goldhirsh
  • on September 25, 2009 at 6:17 pm

Was at the advertising week conference yesterday and met Jeanette Moy from the Mayor’s office. She was talking about how NYC wants to engage the outer boroughs on the issue of obesity. We spoke about the potential of a collaboration between the city, a distribution platform (McDonalds, Burger King, whomever), a fresh food provider (local farmers market), and local ngos to push and provide more healthy food in the area. Anyone heard of anything like…

I did. this doesn’t count as that though as they’re dealing with a serious crisis, which would undermine the the goal of not dealing with anything.

PETA Tries to Re-brand Fish as “Sea Kittens”

  • and said:

I think there is logic in the last comment. As impotent as this rebranding campaign seems, given how far up against the wall we are on the fate of our fisheries it’s hard to knock anyone for trying anything. Rather than changing our understanding of what we’re eating, a real campaign on the trajectory of the food source, and it’s ecological implications, would be of better use. As this post seems a bit on the serious side for this thread, I’ve also included a link to my favorite underwater rap song – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRHP73L8rXs – let’s not forget that 2pac was in this band.

hey there,

I work at GOOD. We discussed your post today. We’re fired up that people are starting to use this platform for action purposes. We know we have much work to do to get this effort to where we want it to be (e.g. being able to spotlight efforts like yours so others can be aware of what’s going on). We’re going to push real hard in the coming months to see this happen. I much appreciate you engaging and I wanted let you know it’s a)super appreciated, and b)that we’re putting the work in to be a better resource for you and for all of us. anyhow, congrats on what you’re up to. I hope you’re doing wonderful.

much respect, ben
