Pennies for your thoughts

  • Posted by: illustrationism

Here’s an idea: Take pennies out of circulation to save the U.S. government some money – it costs more than one cent to print a penny, why print them? It doesn’t make “cents”. Haha…! No, I’m not done yet.

Round prices to the nearest 5, 10, or 25 cents. Any rise in prices will be directed towards moving the world in a “better” direction, faster: Research into zero-emission transportation and energy; putting some power behind the…

Swine Flu: We Went a Little Crazy But We Didn’t Die

There’s plenty to talk about. Too bad most news stations tend move to and from over-emphasized pockets of news. I still see news about the swine flu on prime-time… You’re telling me there’s nothing else to talk about? Come on.

What Should We Do with Deserted Malls?

  • and said:

I’d hate to waste the available space that’s already, in most cases, well-constructed. Demolishing should be a final option. Re-purposing the space is a good idea, but with anything commercial you’re going to run into the same inherent problems hurting the stores that are closing.Perhaps the solution would be to convert the malls into more of a community area – An indoor park, library space, indoor skate park, etc. Another good solution would be to look at the problems that the vacating stores suffer from, and find business that isn’t affected by those problems: Data housing companies, call centers, local non-product-producing businesses, etc. Heck, re-purpose the mall area well enough and you may even be able to keep a couple of the small eateries!Or, we can say “to hell with commercialism!”, knock them down, and reforest the area. Of course, that wouldn’t be profitable, so no one will go for it. Just throwing out ideas.

This Is Who Is Taking Care of Our Money?

  • and said:

Wow… You know, you’re right. I’m a pretty bright guy, but up against an arsenal of financial vocabulary, I feel pretty helpless. Imagine the irony though: People go to college for a decade to pursue a career in the financial sector only to learn that the vocabulary and charts they’re using don’t work, and haven’t ever really meant anything; they’re simply using it all to make money off of people who aren’t armed with that information.Would it be funny or sad? I’m not sure under which circumstances I’d be more aggravated: People who don’t know what’s going on putting our country into debt, or people who claim to know what they’re doing putting our country into debt. =)

I’d have to agree with this. Although I’m not reluctant to admit that maybe American are too stupid to figure out that the food we’re eating is killing us. I’m frequently disappointed in lifestyle choices in America, and food is just a part of that. I just sit quietly and work on my plan to become an expat.

Flying The Profitable Skies

I recently returned from a comfortable and enjoyable flight aboard Korean Air. Granted, it was an expensive flight, and I wasn’t in first class, but I still got my own TV, free headphones, and pretty flight attendants telling me that I couldn’t use the restroom because the “Fasten Seatbelt” sign was lit. It was my most enjoyable flight to date, even if it was 14 hours.

It’s All About the Money

Ever notice how inefficient most things are? Imagine a world without a monetary system. Could that ever work in this day and age? How about a more enlightened day and age? If we did make it work, just imagine what we’d have to change – would it benefit humanity, or the environment? Where would you fit in?
