Picture Show: You Are What You Eat

Ah, food logs are great ways to analyze what you eat. I always eat healthier when I’m keeping track. Plus, if you’re a locovore and try to eat a lot of local stuff, you can look back at your log and see how good you’ve done (or bad, as the case may be)…my family likes to talk about all our local food at dinner…it can be fun…

Another Argument for Team Vegetarian: It Reduces Water Waste

  • and said:

I’m no vegetarian, but I still believe in eating less meat as another way to “be green.” Especially eating less of the big stuff (aka, beef). Humans are still an important part of the omnivorous food chain. But then, maybe someday the world population will be so excessive that we won’t even have the resources to produce the meat we (or some of us) want to eat.

What Do You Think of the Tea Parties?

So, I just want to know how these people propose we “fix” the economy without spending more money or raising taxes. Sometimes these things are necessary. Just look at FDR’s New Deal. He spent millions (billions?) of dollars, and, low and behold, by the time he was out of office, America was back on it’s feet. Plus…I support higher taxes for richer people. I may seem socialistic, but I am completely willing to pay more taxes than not as well to do friends. It seems almost selfish not to.

Book Review: Animal Vegetable Miracle

  • Posted by: marijane

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle is a book aiming to raise awareness about the benefits of local consumption. It not only illustrates reasons why local food is so important, but also teaches how to buy locally, cook seasonally, and acquire a green thumb. The Kingsolver’s tested the concept of growing local food by trying to live a whole year solely on food grown by themselves or nearby. Surprisingly, they succeeded. Mostly.

Starting at the onset of the growing…

Buying Organic

  • and said:

Yeah…going local is the only way out of big corporation consumerism. Many of the “organic” companies can hardly be considered organic due to the way they ship stuff. Also, all of the companies on the chart obviously don’t really care about organic food, because only some of their brands are. They market it for the consumers, but really all they are doing is changing inputs to get the same product in the long run.
