Invest in International News

  • and said:

I like Der Spiegel, my roommate from Germany likes Tageschau.de. That difference marks the importance in recognizing what Americans want and what international viewers want.

Afterall BBCAmerica is simply International News tailored for Americans.

Even if an American were to read authentic International news, they would focus on the international issues that concern Americans (i.e. war, crises, global warming) as opposed to the fashion or soccer section of Le Figaro.

Costs of international broadcasting isn’t a problem. In developing countries they usually just broadcast British or overdubbe German International News.

The above article, also doesn’t bring anything new to the “We need International News” argument. What specific International News? Elsa Klensch’s “Style”. Macedonian News? International Salsa Competitions? The article almost echoes the tones of a politically motivated euphemism.
