In order to show the benefits of increasing from a 15 mpg vehicle to a 25 mpg vehicle consider the following example:Gallons used to travel 1000 miles:15 mpg = xxxxxxxxxxxxx25 mpg = xxxxxxxx40 mpg = xxxxxx = 5 gal. (approximately)What this means is an increase of 10 mpg* saves almost twice as much gas (xxxxx) as an increase of 15 mpg** (xxx)!*(10 mpg to 25 mpg)**(25 mpg to 40 mpg)So obviously going to 40 mpg would be best, but in the meantime simply raising Americas overall average mpg from somewhere in the teens to somewhere in the 20’s would greatly reduce the nations total gas consumption. For a more detailed explanation of the above math check out:http://www.good.is/post/gallons-to-go/
