Judge a Book by its Cover

Oh my god. I saw Maps & Legends at a bookstore in Paris a year ago and forgot to write the title down. Thankyou! the cover is AMAZING.

I was a ten year old book snob. I couldn’t get enough books, but I tended to stick to the independent European imports (not even kidding). I pledged at a young age to never pick up a Baby Sitters Club, or lay my eyes on an R.L. Stine. The same pledge did not apply to Nancy Drew, though I somehow never read those either.   Among my favorites were: The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles, Harriet the Spy, Maniac Magee, Dear Mr. Henshaw, Lloyd Alexander’s Vesper Holly series, and I capture the Castle. As an older reader, I loved all of the books by Rob Thomas.

Optimism is hard to come by. I can hope for a lot of things.  But I’m learning that it is useless to hope.  I have to believe it can happen. Have faith in people/society/culture’s ability/need to change.

Not quite sure if my link will work, but damn if this isn’t an amazing and impactive example of a type animation. Screw words. This type speaks in a whole other way.
