Become Shareholders in the Nutritional Wellbeing of West Oakland

GOOD Partnerships

The People’s Community Market (PCM) wants to be a sustainable solution for some of the social and economic challenges facing the underserved residents of West Oakland, CA. Like many food desert communities, it has no supermarkets. Residents spend $58 million annually for groceries, and not only do their dollars go to surrounding cities, but many of the 26,000 residents (many of which don’t own cars) undergo significant hurdles to find affordable fresh food.

PCM will offer nutritious foods, plus a venue for health screenings, food educational programs, and other community activities. And to fund their project, the founders don’t want donations, but instead are offering any California resident the opportunity to be a Founding Shareholder. As a shareholder, you make a positive social impact while earning 3% annual interest and a 1% store credit. Click below to learn how you can make a sustainable investment in the nutritional wellbeing of West Oakland.
