Do you have an idea for a forward thinking, innovative project? Take a shot at getting on board the Millennial Trains Project's first-ever crowd-funded transcontinental journey this August, and advance that project across the 10 localities where our train will stop as it travels from SF to DC.

If you can’t make it, consider supporting one or more of the projects that have already been submitted and follow the journeys of the passengers you support.

    This seems like a really neat idea, but I'm struggling with the whole "have to be 18-34" to be on this train... I get that you're riding on the perceived brand value of the "Millennials" with this thing, but I think that you're really missing out on a lot of tremendous ideas and opportunities by leaving out people over 34. Doesn't it seem odd to you that your board of advisors contains people who wouldn't even qualify to ride on your train? Philip Auerswald, Dan Carroll, Saichiko Kuno, Alyssa Lovegrove, Ross Rowland, etc... a very impressive board of directors, all of whom you'd throw off of the train?

      Thanks for commenting. Your absolutely right that people over 34 have good ideas too. 1 out of 5 people on our train -- our distinguished mentors -- are from older generations, as are many of the individuals that have contributed their valuable time, energy, and resources to the project's development over the past year. I don't think it's odd that our board of advisors has a lot of experience that's relevant to our work. I actually think that's a good thing.

        Agreed - I think it's a great thing that much of your board of advisors has lots of experience. That's undoubtedly why you chose them for your board. I'm just trying to wrap my head around excluding other _non-board-member-types_ from the train ride.

    Document how the spaces between the rail lines and yards, depots and stations, and the landscapes they traverse are used, or more likely, abused. Design "best practices" land uses for these spaces, even if temporary. Replace ugly refuse with beautiful horticulture. Help spark the revival of places both large and small found on "the wrong side of the tracks". Incorporate the stories of migration and Pullman Porters, underground railroads to freedom, and consider the intersections with America's great rivers and cities.
