Help Protect Endangered Antarctic Penguins From Losing Their Home

Yasha Wallin

In less than three months, two dozen countries and the European Union will decide the fate of some of the most important penguin habitat on Earth. At a special meeting in Germany July 15, CCAMLR countries could vote to permanently protect some of Antarctica’s most pristine waters as the largest marine reserves in the world. World leaders are now deciding which way their countries will vote, and they need to hear from us. Please ask them to support fully protected Ross Sea and East Antarctic marine reserves, in time for a consensus decision this summer.

Truly a great initiative! We cannot let the seas become more polluted then they currently are! Awesome & hands down great job!

Also, I got crazy and took the penguin personality quiz. Turns out I'm a chinstrap penguin. Learn something new every day!

Done! I'm very involved with the elephant crisis in Africa, this is along the same lines and I'm glad to help in a small way. Thanks for sharing.

Great! Would love to hear about your work around that.

I was recently in Africa and got to visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi (http://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/). Sheldricks's is an orphanage for elephants who have lost their parents to human causes, usually poaching. I fell in love! I came home and adopted an elephant, Quanza. As I researched more about her, I started learning about how poaching is affecting the economy in a nasty downward spiral. I'm mostly an informal brand ambassador for Sheldrick's, and a voice on a soapbox for elephants in general.

How did you get involved with the penguins?
