Kickstarter: Jewelry Made from Weapons of Conflict in Cambodia & Laos

Purple Buddha Project assist local artisans of Laos and Cambodia in upcycling weapons of conflict from into jewelry. With giving at our core, we respectfully argue that employment is a stronger, more stable, and more sustainable than any other form of aid. Money from employment goes towards one’s housing, food, water, and other daily needs. We coordinate partner cooperatives whom employ disabled or disadvantaged artisans from Laos and Cambodia with designers from Japan.

Each jewelry piece is handcrafted by an artisan upcycled from UXOs, bullet shells, and bomb casings from Laos and Cambodia previously used as weapons of conflict. The artisans are employed with fair-trade wages in place to produce our jewelry pieces. Molds and castings from Tokyo, Japan are sent to our producers in Phonm Penh, Cambodia; and in Xiengxhoang, Laos for production.       Thanks, took a long time to get this set up. Went from driving a jeep in the hot heat of SE Asia and also took a cross country trip on a motor bike to show up to a meeting.
