Put Your Phone Down For One Hour Each Day

Hannah Wasserman

Where
Anywhere

By being too attached to our various screens, we are losing the ability to connect with others. Take the challenge and put down your phone. Choose a dedicated "no technology hour" each day, put down your phone/computer/tablet, and have a conversation with a friend. Your ability to connect with others is a muscle you need to work, so like going to the gym, make detaching from technology part of your regular routine.

This is such a good idea! I always leave my phone at home when I work out and it helps me focus on exercising and getting in the zone. I've also found that when I'm truly enjoying myself and immersing myself in a situation, I don't feel the need to check my phone. I feel like continually checking my phone just wastes my time and keeps me from observing the world around me and truly engaging with the present.

Isn't it crazy how this is a real struggle for many of us? How did we get here?? I guess since we rely on our digital devices so much this shouldn't be a big surprise. "No technology hour" here we come!

I know! I remember when I got my first Nokia brick phone and I was just begging for people to text me-- never thought that little piece of technology would become so consuming.

haha for me too! It's crazy, I have to be really, really intentional about it. I literally have been hiding my phone in weird places so I don't hear it light up for vibrate. Stay strong!

Yes, such a great idea! When I was travelling with no service, I felt healthier and happier after not checking my phone for days!
