Watch "Teaching The N Word" to see how one teacher leads a classroom of high school students to practice taking a position, supporting it with textual evidence, and respectfully disagreeing with another person face-to-face. How often do adults model this behavior and high-level thinking? Challenge yourself to a Socratic Seminar with some friends or co-workers. Or challenge a teacher you know to use Socratic Seminars with his or her students. Promote respectful dialogue around an important topic.
