Before you buy a piece of clothing or jewelry, stop to question who made it and where it comes from. Check your tags. There are millions of artisans around the world who have lost jobs and global recognition due to violence and political volatility, as well as the influx of factories and cheaply processed goods. As global citizens, we have the responsibility to learn the story behind every item we purchase and then use that knowledge to make ethical purchasing decisions. Through this process, we can empower artisans to earn sustainable incomes, foster greater social and economic stability throughout the world, and honor the beautiful handmade techniques of these global artisans.
