Sign a Petition to Recycle Expo Dry Erase Markers

I'm a teacher who runs a small Earth Hero club with many of my sixth grade students. We've taken an active role in lessening the waste our school creates that is destined for the landfill. After a waste audit (digging through a day's trash!) we found many Expo dry erase markers. We use them constantly in the classroom and know they only last a few months. Then they are doomed to the landfill. Teachers across the country use Expo dry erase markers in their classrooms. Such an important educational tool should be recycled, to close the loop on this reckless plastic use and to model sustainable and responsible business practices to our nation's kids.

Our Earth Hero team created this online petition to the makers of Expo markers, the Newell Rubbermaid company. The students have created campaign photos, videos and photos. They are inspired to make a difference. Please sign our petition and inspire both the children and the company to work for more sustainable schools.

Thanks for signing! The kids will be very excited. Next up? A video of markers rising from the trash made by students.... they are so creative!
