Tell Cheerios You Love Their New Ad With an Interracial Family

Liz Dwyer

You gotta love "postracial" America. The latest Cheerios advertisement is getting some serious backlash because it features an interracial family—a white mom, black dad, and their daughter. Sadly, the comments on the ad's YouTube page "devolved into an endless flame war, with references to Nazis, 'troglodytes' and 'racial genocide.'" Yes, the hate was flowing so freely that Cheerios shut down the comments.

Let's drown out the racist haters by giving this ad some love. Go to the video's YouTube page and give it a thumbs up. Then, go to the Cheerios Facebook page and tell them thank you for making the choice to cast a family that represents the true diversity of America.

Yes the ad should be about the Product though for the life of me since I have seen Sooooooooooooooo many interracial couples in commercials why is this one such a big deal? It's going to be even more amusing when everyone finds out our TRUE nature is not about Color anyway and must of us are NOT even from Earth, that is Tera Sol 3 or Tiamet or whatever they call Earth this week LOL

I think its ridiculous when people try to turn a perfectly well intended message into foolishness. Can we get back to the point...healthy heart, right? Love Cheerios!

An awesome reminder that we need to let companies know when they get it right...thanks.

When I first saw this ad I didn't even notice that the parents were bi-racial. I started seeing all the news about it and had to watch it again. Unbelievable that people are so close-minded. Cheers to Cheerios for a great commercial.

Yes! I've already sent an email to their HQ. I am hoping their next commercial will have gay parents.

It just a good commercial! Funny, cute, well paced. Love it. In my first grade we have a number of interracial families! Good for the ad agency that choose to do this, its about time.
