Truly a great initiative! Onevio supports it at 150%! :)

I am leading The Treedom Project in Brooklyn this weekend.

We are a group of Citizen Tree Stewards who will go around and remove chains and locks from trees we have identified in the last 30 days. More about the project can be found here: treedomproject.com and here is the link to our kick-off video where we clipped the chain from one tree on my block: http://treedomproject.com/post/48924906120/here-is-the-treedom-project-video-super-proud-of

Looking forward to this and will report back in a couple of days.

    Street Bump
    vimeo.com
A project of Boston’s Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics, Street Bump helps residents improve their neighborhood streets. Citizens use the Street Bump mobile app collect data about the smoothness of their ride; that data provides the City with information…

Alright that's it, I'm going to going to take a roller and bucket of white paint to block out the gang tags wherever I find'em. That is not your overpass, Disciples.

it will be a small change but to remind the neighbors on my street that the city's recycling pickup are on thursdays of every week (1x per week whereas standard garbage pickups are scheduled to be 2x per week-so it is easy to forget about recycling on a particular week during especially busy quarters of the year); the signs merely serves to optimize the opportunity to recycle as I know the option to recycle is not available everywhere, be it another city or one's office/workplace.

    • Zachary Slobig

Are you going to make your own signs? Or just remind people verbally?

      • danleeee

i want to ideally make signs but with all the regulations that DC has, it will be a legal hassle for me to just post posters anywhere; maybe I can just create just small reminder flyers and place them in everyone's mailbox for those who live on my street

        • Zachary Slobig

We'd like to see those flyers! You could also consider a block wide email/ SMS blast every other week? I'd sign up if someone set that up on my block.

          • danleeee

as i hardly know the neighbors on my block, i suppose a casual reminder flyer to stick in my neighbor;s mailbox wouldn't be a bad start, along with links and direct contact in for the committee (comedy? ..cheesy line from In The Loop); sort of like one of those car2go starter/reminder booklets that seems to be perpetually updated due to the mercurial nature of regulatory appeasement i.e. the frustrating affair that uber is presently handling against the stubborn cab companies of the district; as for me, simpler, smaller, apolitical- the better; will keep you posted

My neighbour has been planting herbs at random in the back alleyways to encourage positive use of a space otherwise only occupied by drug users. I think I will join him on his guerrilla gardening adventures

There are a lot of rough and some pot holes in the SW Michigan roads after winter. The problem is whether our taxes can pay enough to fix them. With more unemployed and jobs with lower pay, less taxes will be available for anything.

We did Durham's first parklet last year!

We're working on our 2nd DIY bus shelter for those users who have no place to sit!

    • Zachary Slobig

sweet, wajisa22. we'd love to see your plans for this, or photos once it's finished!

  • Diana Ahrens

I live too close to the office not to be biking or walking to work. Perhaps I'll give it a test run this week to see what might need fixing....

An unpaved "public-right-of-way"..... connects two streets adjoining my house. The bushes are pretty, and healthy, but they grow into the pathway...... poking people in the face..... as they try to brush by. I'll spend some pleasant time this month.... cutting back these bushes.... and making the "street".... more comfortable and more safe!
