      Bummer! Where else can the curious go to watch a surfing livestream? Aren't there surfing cams at various hot spots?

        Lots and lots of web cams out there pointed at surf spots all over the world, Mary. But it's these sorts of contests when you can see the best surfing the biggest.

        This swell that's showing in South America will begin to show this weekend in Southern California. While I'm thinking about it, here's a great video story about chasing the massive El Nino winter swell from Hawaii to Maverick's to Todos Santos, Mexico several years back:
