If you’re a California resident and haven’t heard anything yet about the Local Control Funding Formula, chances are you will in the months to come.
The Local Control Funding Formula is a law that is expected to give parents and school leaders much more control over creating budgets, and dramatically change how funding is allocated to school districts.
Beyond test scores, the law now demands that schools align budgets to increase student engagement and parent involvement, as well as create positive learning environments.
If you live in LA, and would like to voice your opinion (e.g., “My child’s library needs to stay open longer than an hour after school!”, or “Our school needs a P.E. teacher!”), The California Board of Education and leaders of local school districts want to hear your ideas (and do something about them).
