This map, by the Washington Post's Max Fisher, details gay rights around the world. The United States is broken down by state, since gay marriage and same-sex civil unions differ from state to state.

It includes the landmark Supreme Court of the United States "no standing" ruling on California's Prop 8 on Wednesday morning.

    Today was a step in the right direction but the map clearly shows that we have a long way to go .Nevertheless, I am certain that people the world over will continue to speak up, with ever-increasing fervor, to demand equal rights for all.
