After further review we’re sticking with organic

The debate over organic food reached a crescendo last month when a “meta-analysis” issued by Stanford University scientists concluded that organic foods were neither more safe nor more healthy than conventional alternatives. The study raised eyebrows with our team at Farmanac because one of the core principals of our app is to help shoppers make safe and healthy choices when purchasing fruits and vegetables.

all our foods are now becoming owned by big business.Monsanto is making sure we can't grow our gardens from our own kept seeds.wheat is no longer wheat!it's almost totaly different from what we baby boomers ate for breakfast.i believe the'food' industries are moving toward chemicals=food.we are loosing our rights quickly, but who would of thought we'd loose being able to eat FOOD?organic is best.we should move away from meat.the lands used for grazing would produce more vegies & fruits than is produced by meat.tons more.we could no longer have starving children.my opinion.

As in most of these blogged discussions, it's a sticky wicket. Things are more complicated than we would like to have them be. Organic is just not a clear-cut description - there are varying degrees of it out there. I have had food from Whole Foods that I thought tastes better than the bigbox foodfeeders. Taste is a subjective thing. In the same vein, I have also had organic veggies where I live in Switzerland, bearing the Demeter seal, based on an anthroposophic food production philosophy. Well, frankly it put Whole Foods shame and for that matter, also all of the other semi-commercial organic produce that I've had since then. The taste was so good, that I hardly had to add anything to them, and mind you, I can cook. 'Nuf sed. Perhaps more important is the fact that I could keep them so long without them going bad. No, they weren't irradiated. But, here's the kicker. I knew the garden and the head gardener and went and got them myself. Conclusion: It has to be "really" organic, that is, approaching hokus pokus for lots of folks and very local. But then, that's actually obvious isn't it?
