Announcing GOOD Attacks! Hunger in Los Angeles

Join GOOD and Food Forward for a party in an orchard, and help fight food insecurity in Los Angeles.

Last year GOOD announced a new series of events: GOOD Attacks!, our effort to drive real-world change by organizing people to do good and have fun at the same time. With National Volunteer Week just around the corner, we thought it was time for another GOOD Attacks! This time we’re attacking hunger in Los Angeles.

According to the nonprofit Feeding America, more than 17 percent of Angelenos are food insecure, meaning they don't have consistent access to enough food for a healthy, active life. So on April 22, we’re partnering with Food Forward, a nonprofit that harvests excess fruit and vegetables from gardens and fruit orchards, then donates them to local food banks.

Food Forward’s Big Pick at the orange orchard on the California State University at Northridge campus will feature a few hundred trees with fruit ripe for the picking, plus food trucks and a DJ spinning jams all day. It'll be a party, and chances are the weather will be beautiful. The best part? At the end of the day, all the fruit will go to local food pantries dedicated to feeding the hungry. After the event, we'll quantify our impact in a wrapup article so we know what we accomplished.

Advance RSVPs are required, so head over to Food Forward’s site now. We'll see you in the orchard.
