check out Lovin' Spoonfuls, based in Boston. Impactful food rescue for over 3 years - over 500,000 lbs of fresh produce, lean proteins and whole grains picked up from supermarkets, farms, restaurants, produce wholesalers and other outlets where food is otherwise going to waste - all distributed to social service entities and soup kitchens across MA. https://vimeo.com/52327108

what an incredible project. just read the bio of the guy behind it and am going to dive in to learn more.

Interesting project. Why not just make a deal with the grocery stores to collect their unused food after close every day?

That is exactly what we are discussing in Facebook. We need to turn this to a social business that offers a CSR strategy to organizations that waste.

Since they probably want to stay away from a tricky subject as food waste they have been cautios to take a public approach. But definitely there is a huge potential on partnerships there.

Clearly, Trader Joe's is being targeted here. What other grocery stores and restaurants are somewhat high up in challenging? Panera Bread I believe is still throwing away bread that is not sold that day (though I heard some of their satellites started donating it to places). Not sure how factual that is.

Totally! Great idea. I feel like if you could get a partnership going with someone like Trader Joe's-- you could really expand the movement
