Can We Design a Language?

Cinnamon Janzer

Social design in its strictest sense. I find this recent DAE grad's work to be entirely fascinating because...
1) it addresses social constructs like "otherness" a la anthropology
2) it's practical and applicable: it can actually create change through its use
3) it's well researched and supported
4) it's beautifully and thoughtfully designed

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)

I really like this perspective on autism. Although it's not from someone who has autism, it definitely captures the feeling of what it can be like. My cousin is autistic and certain sounds overwhelm him- but light calms him down- and so do certain drum beats. I do think this film by Carly Fleishman, someone who actually has autism is pretty powerful. You should check it out: http://www.good.is/posts/what-the-world-looks-like-when-you-have-autism

Wow, thanks for sharing. That's really interesting, and would love to see the full publication. Do you know if it's available to either order or download a digital copy?
