Changing School From a Place of Confinement to a Place of Connection

In a poignant reflection on the back-to-school season educator Peter Gow writes that "'School' for most of us--kids and adults--represents a certain kind of confinement, a limitation on our freedom of movement and on our freedom of imagination and expression." How do we change this? Gow says we must imagine (and create) schools that are "so connected to the world, that the barriers between school and life would seem to dissolve."
