Tererai Trent is a humanitarian scholar who grew up in rural Zimbabwe. With the help of Heifer International, she got an education -- her latest degree is a Ph.D. -- and is working to help children in her village get educated. Inspired by her mother’s words, with help from the community and Oprah Winfrey, she rebuilt the dilapidated Matau Primary School and established the Tinogona Foundation to sustain the school. Inspired by her story, many parents now want their daughters to get an education.
