Financial stress often interferes with an artist's creative process. For musicians who want to remain independent, crowdsourcing can be the best way to finance a project while maintaining integrity and creative license. Two local bands, New Tongues and Believers, have used the crowdfunding companies Kickstarter and Gotta Groove Records to release records, and in New Tongues' case, vinyl. How rewarding to be able to create something meaningful to you because of fan support.
