People will just take the leftovers and either throw the food out once they leave the restaurants, or those with good intentions may let it go to waste in their fridges. We need to get more education on food, health and nutrition so we breed out our overindulgent food culture. Prevention first.

I don't think this is good, charge the restaurants for serving too much food.
Plus, I love me some leftovers.

Who would go to a restaurant that charged you for not finishing your plate? Most portions in restaurant are way too big, so simply start with reducing the size.

I'd like to see smaller portion sizes, too. Options to have different portion sizes,or different options for prix fixe might help. Education is key.

I don't think charging for what's not eaten is the best answer, because that would encourage overeating. Maybe price levels for different amounts of food? Then you pay for the amount of food you get, not how much you eat. You commit to the amount of food and the price before you eat. Then you can take home the extra.

I used to work at a three-star restaurant. Even if it was not a buffet, the amount of food waste I saw being thrown out everyday was pretty shameful. Eat what you take, folks!

Nice idea, but eating more than you should is also not good. Making restaurant portions smaller or 1/2 portion options might be a better way to go.
