I love knowing that now, with more free time, not having to collect water far from home, "Helen has been chosen to be the Water Committee Treasurer, collecting nominal fees from 51 households to use for the maintenance of their well. Water Committees are often the first time women are ever elected to leadership positions in villages."

    These photos are incredible too.

I found it inspiring to learn about the unintended consequences that providing clean water in these communities has. Most people realise that new wells will improve health and reduce the need to have to spend hours walking every day... but restoring a sense of dignity or freeing up time for kids to play (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVOKn6lx4Ac) – that really hits home... it's a fantastic example of the 'adventurous empathy' that Roman Krznaric talks about!
