Fish Sauce... in Italy? Listen to the suprising tale

The umami blasting ingredient fish sauce is used all across Southeast Asia as a basis for many dishes, but did you know it also has roots in Italy? This story traces the food back to the Roman Empire, when the fermented sauce was likely called "garum." Today the sauce is being revitalized in Southwest Italy, where they produce a modern descendant of the product called "colatura di alici."
