So well written and beautifully expressed Wendi! I have the pleasure of making this kind of magic happen everyday at work (www.roomtoread.org), and it really is inspiring. Thank you for sharing!!

Hi Wendi, I am going to Nepal in September and looking for projects to get involved in. Would really like any advice/contacts you may have. I have had short 3 month projects overseas before Haiti/Uganda/Bhutan/Cambodia .. and now looking at Nepal. Any help would be great projects at theevaluationlab dot com

Definitely email Wendi, but what kind of projects are you looking for specifically--let us know because there may be other members of the GOOD community that can give you some ideas, too.

So awesome of you to offer to help Andrew out. Thank you, Wendi!

Absolutely! This is something very important to me, and obviously for SAV School. Some serious magic afoot when folks connect!

      Dear Andrew,
You are most welcome to Nepal. You can talk to Wendi who visited us in April.

I too do projects connecting classrooms in the US with classrooms in developing countries. I learn so much from the students each and every time. Thank you for the good work you do! One of the most inspiring things that happened in my experience was a school in Green Lane PA doing a "Penny Challenge" each classroom brought in loose change, all competing against each other. In 2 weeks, they raised $1500 in quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies! In a blue collar town! That showed me true gumption!

That's a wonderful fundraising project--it certainly helps hit home how little amounts can make a huge difference! Keep up the great work--there's so much to be done!

I use a website called UClass with my students to connect them with students around the world. It's great and facilitates life-changing experiences like this!

    • Wendi Pillars

Thanks! I will check it out! Any projects you'd like to recommend?

Inspiring teacher and kids!!!! Kids have so much to teach us, if we listen and have faith.

    • Wendi Pillars

Thanks, Rose. You are exactly right--listening to our kids, and understanding that they have passion inside, too, is an incredible lesson.

I'm not sure how to post pics myself, Stef--but the girls used a large piece of red bulletin board paper--about 2 1/2 feet wide (?) and about 6-7 feet long...they then glued their pictures from school, home, etc., and labelled each and every one.

If you email me the picture, I can update the post with it so folks can see it. liz at goodinc dot com!
