GOOD Maker Challenge: Connect With Your Community With Echoing Green

What would you do with $1,000 to build relationships with members of the community you want to serve? Submit your idea to Connect With Your Community.

How far do you go to get to know the people you serve? In order to have real impact, you need to truly understand the people you want to help. Getting rooted in the public sphere requires extra effort to be intentional and invested in your community. To foster growth and development, you have to take understanding to a deeper level and get connected to your community, whether it means a local hospital where you volunteer, a school club, or your city.

In partnership with Echoing Green, the global nonprofit that has provided more than 500 promising social entrepreneurs working in over forty countries with $31 million in start-up funding, customized support services, and access to our global network of champions, GOOD Maker wants to hear your ideas on the best ways to invest in your surrounding. How would you foster genuine relationships with the people you’re working with in public service? Host a pancake breakfast? Organize a town hall meeting? Launch a neighborhood news blog?

Submit an idea to the Connect With Your Community challenge between July 11 and August 8 (noon Pacific Time). Let us know how you would use $1,000 to better understand and build deeper relationships with members of the community you most want to serve. From August 9 to August 22, we'll open it up to a public vote. The top-voted submission will receive a $1,000 grant and a copy of Echoing Green’s Work on Purpose book signed by Lance Armstrong, Doug Ulman, Cheryl Dorsey, and the book’s author, Lara Galinsky.
