GOOD Maker Challenge: Show How Pets Can Make the World a Better Place

GOOD and Purina ONE have teamed up to highlight the ways pets can change how we view ourselves, our neighborhoods, and beyond. Now, we’re excited to announce the Picturing Pets Maker Challenge, which asks the GOOD community to share inspiring photos and stories that celebrate the simple, everyday things that pets do to make our world a better place. And to help pets in need, we’re offering a prize that will support organizations that work to find them good homes.

Whether your pet joins you on hikes, keeps you company during hard times, or visits schools and hospitals to offer pet-assisted therapy, we want to know your story. Here’s how it works: submit one photo of a simple, unposed moment with your dog or cat along with a short story explaining how your pet makes the world a better place. The winning entrant will:

• Be featured on good.is with the winning photo and story.
• Win vouchers for a year’s supply of Purina ONE dog food.
• Enable Nanette Martin, award-winning photographer and founder of nonprofit organization Shelter Me Photography, to bring her services to a pet shelter. Martin will teach shelter staff photography techniques that help reveal the true beauty and personality of pets, greatly increasing their chances of finding a home.
• Choose which of the following shelter programs will receive a $1,500 donation in the winner’s name: HALO Animal Rescue Uno por Uno, Animal Humane Society Bound for Home, Cat Adoption Team Kitten Foster Program, or Nebraska Humane Society Camp Kindness.
