GOOD Maker Challenge: Support Sacramento Region Classrooms with $50K in DonorsChoose.org Gift Cards

In the Sacramento, California region, only 57 percent of third-graders—an age recent studies show is a crucial turning point for students—are reading at grade level. We believe that community support can help change this reality, so we're challenging you to invest in Sacramento's classrooms to help improve the region’s literacy rate.

University of Phoenix is awarding $50,000 worth of DonorsChoose.org giftcards to empower over 100 people to invest directly in Sacramento regional education projects.

We want to hear your ideas for how to improve K-12 education in the region. Would you start an after school theater program? Equip a classroom with iPads? Host a bookbinding workshop? Join the Sacramento Region Literacy Challenge, and tell us why you want to be an investor in Sacramento’s education system.

Submit your idea between September 25 and October 26, 12 p.m. PST. The first 100 approved submissions will each get a $100 giftcard. Additionally, every week of submissions, there will be a raffle to win a $1,000 giftcard. From October 30 to November 13, 12 p.m. PST, the public will vote to choose the best ideas. The winning submission will get a $10,000 giftcard and the 10 runners up will each win $2,500 giftcards.

All told, $50,000 will be funneled into Sacramento region schools. Join the Sacramento Region Literacy Challenge to be part of the community that helps students and schools reach their full potential.
