Hand made things--rather its furniture to mechanical things--is a dieing art. I've always wanted to have like a lil blacksmith shop where I could do castings, tempering, and other cool stuff I can only do in a video game... Create silverware, yard ornaments, furniture...

Stuff is to expensive and really require mainly building half of it yourself... Besides I think metal casting and melting is toxic for the environment -- So also forging is illegal without permits. Either way its neat.

I'd love to learn more about how they calculate the gross happiness index, and what they do with that information. Would be interesting to see how that could be applied to other workplaces.

I love that Etsy workers have an opportunity to share their talents and learn from others at the office. The fact that they each get their own stipends to have their own shops is also pretty incredible. B Corporations all the way! Therapeutic doodling forever!

The stipend is to buy items on Etsy for workspace decoration, not for opening a shop.

I'm with you! I think work environment translates to quality of work. No wonder Etsy is doing a great job.
