Harvard University Announces Nas Fellowship

For more than two decades, Nas’ prolific career has been a hallmark for hip-hop, and now Harvard University has established a fellowship in the lyricist's honor.

The W.E.B. Du Bois Institute at Harvard University and the Hip-Hop Archive announced the Nasir Jones Hip-Hop Fellowship on Tuesday. The goal of the fellowship is to provide chosen scholars and artists with an opportunity to show that “education is real power.”

      Right! In Grad School, I wrote a paper on the importance of Hip Hop in Higher Education. I compared the lyrics from Tupac's portfolio and Kanye West's portfolio through High School Dropout to see who was a better influence and how Hip Hop could encourage college attendance. The professor laughed at me and told me my idea didn't make sense. Welp, looks like it makes sense now.
