L.A. Youth needs your help. The nonprofit newspaper, established in 1988 as a voice by and for Los Angeles teenagers, is facing a tough financial struggle. We're asking the GOOD community to support a project that serves a community of more than 350,000 young writers, artists, photographers, and readers—kids who typically lack a productive forum for sharing their perspectives and creativity.

If L.A. Youth is unable to raise $500,000 by May 15 (that's Tuesday!), the paper will have to shut down after the current school year. They've made major progress in their fundraising effort so far, but the folks behind L.A. Youth need your generous support in order to keep operating. From LAYouth.com:
The heartbreaking thing about L.A. Youth facing closure is that what we do has never been more important. School budgets are getting slashed, teachers are spending more out of pocket just for the basics in their overcrowded classrooms and extracurricular programs like journalism and school newspapers are disappearing like dinosaurs. So our ability to provide L.A. Youth newspaper as a free resource for teachers in Los Angeles County six times a year and help thousands of students every year become better writers, engaged citizens and critical thinkers is invaluable.
