Idle No More is definitely a movement worth participating in. In connection with this movement, Chief Theresa Spence has been fasting since December 11th, 2012 on Victoria Island (between Gatineau and Ottawa). While the movement was started by First Nations women in Canada, it's quickly gone global. It's about Bill C-45 and the Aboriginal peoples of Canada fighting for the protection of Treaty rights in relation to land, rivers and lakes but, in the larger context, it's about the fight against greed by big oil and gas companies.

To be fair, pollution doesn't threaten the existence of life, in its totality, on the planet. It threatens our existence. Stop pretending like any humans care about more than that risk: there's ample evidence that we really, truly don't.
