How the Simple Mission of Imgur Launched it into the Internet Stratosphere

A reminder to startups out there: keep it simple. When Imgur launched in 2009, founder Alan Schaaf (then a student at Ohio University) didn't plan on the long-term success of his dorm room project, or that it would eventually draw in 100 million unique users a month. All he knew was that he could make something better. He wrote in the site's announcement on Reddit: "I got fed up with all the other image hosts out there so I made my own." The Atlantic covers the success of that simple mission.
