In Uganda, Solar Cell Phone Charging by Text Message

Up to 650 million people around the world have cell phones, but don't have electricity—meaning they often pay a large percentage of their income just to charge their phones. A new design from Buffalo Grid, with a solar charger built into the back of a bike, is much more affordable, and lets people access a charge just by sending a text message.
