Oops! Nice pic, but it’s just not our (file) type. Please try uploading a .jpg or .png image.

Well, this is embarrassing. Something went wrong when posting your comment. Care to try again?

That image is too large. Maximum size is 6MB.

    UPDATE: http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2012/12/instagram-addresses-tos-rage/

“It was interpreted by many that we were going to sell your photos to others without any compensation,” company co-founder Kevin Systrom wrote in the post. “This is not true and it is our mistake that this language is confusing.”

Confusing? The TOS actually contains the words "without any compensation to you." Seems pretty clear to me. I do love the power of news/people causing a company to backpeddle to avoid user backlash but I think the damage has been done and many people have already (or will) delete their accounts.

Yeah, I think it would be one thing if they'd said they might use images in their own internal promotions (things like that seem pretty common in a TOS...), but completely different if they're going to be actually selling them to other companies, without asking users and without paying them. It's kind of hard to believe that they accidentally framed it that way, since I'm sure their lawyers spent plenty of time writing it.

Oh no! I'm really bummed out about this. In many ways Instagram has replaced my Facebook habit.

Do you use Instagram? After hearing this news, do you want to delete your account?
