Join GOOD at CicLAvia This Sunday to Experience Los Angeles Without Cars

Are you in L.A.? Come join GOOD at the city's fourth CicLAvia. More than seven miles of city streets will be closed to cars. Block party!

One beautiful Sunday back in October 2010, Los Angeles closed seven and a half miles of city streets to cars, turning them over to pedestrians, cyclists, and skaters instead. There was live music, street food, and civic cohesion. It was the city's first CicLAvia (the idea was borrowed from the Ciclovía events in Colombia) and it was, by all accounts, a giant success.

The movement has been gaining momentum ever since, and this Sunday, Los Angeles is hosting its fourth CicLAvia. If you're in the southland, we encourage you to come out. GOOD will be there with a booth on 1st Street between Spring and Broadway. We'll have free issues of the magazine, infographics and maps about transportation in L.A.

We're also launching a new GOOD Maker challenge in partnership with LA/2B, a project of the Los Angeles Departments of City Planning and Transportation, which challenges Angelenos to envision a new way of moving around the city by dreaming up their ideal car-free day in the city. The person whose proposal gets the most votes will receive $500 from GOOD and LA/2B to make it happen. You can get details on the challenge by visiting our booth at CicLAvia or checking la2b.maker.good.is anytime after noon on Sunday.

Sunday's forecast, by the way: 65 degrees and sunny with a 0 percent chance of rain.
