KLM Launches Weekly Flights Powered by Cooking Oil

Last week, the Dutch airline KLM flew from Amsterdam to New York with a fuel blend based on used cooking oil. Over the next 25 weeks, KLM will continue piloting the new biofuel flights—with the goal of helping increase demand for the product so the prices can come down. The airline's also experimenting with algae and other sources of biofuel. How much cooking oil does it take to fly a plane?
