A photo essay by Paulo Siqueira & Nadia Shira Cohen, documenting our aging highway hotels and the people (in between homelessness and foreclosures) who've come to find them as permanent homes. Striking images that, beyond the blatant contrast of seeing the glamourous 1960s Route 66 repurposed as a shelter for our nation's poor, relate you in ways you may not expect. You think it looks foreign or of another time, but you eventually recognize a site you pass on your way home every day from work.
