Nate Silver's statistical wizardry is impressive and deserving of all the current attention. However, Silver's new-found recognition would not have been so meteoric had it not been for the stellar job the graphics people did in presenting Silver's data. The gorgeous and accessible presentation of the behind-the-scenes math is the booster rocket that propelled Silver's success. Stunning data wizardry MUST be paired with stunning data presentation in order for the general population to take notice and take heed. Unfortunately, this sort of partnership is elusive and therefore rare. I'm glad to see it alive and well here at GOOD.

Math, it works. That's my new favorite. I would like that to be adopted across government and have policy positions rise or fall based on the data in terms of impact to quality of life for our citizenry.

Totally. And how cool would it be if the GAO reports were as popular as FiveThirtyEight? And they hired all the NYT dataviz folks to communicate the effectiveness of various policies and help us all feel better prepared to hold our electorate accountable for what we get from our spending.

With this election I have come to realize I am a single issue voter: Science. Either you are for it or against it. Would have hoped that wasn't an issue in the 21st century, but apparently it is.

one hundred percent. Not to be to aggressive, but I'm pretty concerned that opinions have managed to get on the same footing as fact in our culture and I think that is a very dangerous context for tactical navigation.

        I love that.

Also, loved Bloomberg's endorsement of Obama to lead on climate change, where he said, “I want our president to place scientific evidence and risk management above electoral politics.”
