Nelson Mandela's Fight for Women's Rights

Though best known for overcoming apartheid, Nelson Mandela also worked to enshrine gender equality in South Africa's constitution and advocated for women's rights worldwide. He created a constitution that gave South African women one of the most comprehensive set of rights in the world during his presidency. Despite much needed progress, Mandela's efforts sparked a movement that allowed more women to make their voices heard in society than at any other point in South Africa's history.
