Digital cameras allow photographers to shoot, review, delete and shoot again on the fly. Ho Fan shot his photo essay of 1950s Hong Kong back when the craft wasn't so easy. Instead, film photography relied on intuition and timing -- traits showcased masterfully in the composition and lighting of the moments he captured.
