Reports coming out of Bahrain say that police shot into a crowd of sleeping protesters early Thursday morning. One person is dead.

Protesters in Bahrain demonstrated for a third full day today, calling for increased rights and the resignation of Prime Minister Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa. As things wound down, many peopled camped out in Pearl Square, a major landmark in the capital city of Manama. The image above, depicting the serenity of the Pearl Square campground, is from tonight. But then the police came.

According to several reports on Twitter, police stormed the Pearl Square campground early Thursday morning and started firing real bullets, rubber bullets, and tear gas into the crowds. Women and children are reportedly injured, and, according to Maryam Alkhawaja, the head of the Foreign Relations Office at the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, at least one person has been killed. If that's true, police will have killed three Bahrain protesters thus far.
